Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Running Back. 1. 887. Senior. Ke'Shawn Vaughn. player

Nobody is going to be surprised by this. Ke’Shawn Vaughn is the best playmaker the Vanderbilt Commodores have, and there is a case to make that he is the best all-around running back in the SEC who is just stuck on a bad team.

More from Vols Football

We already mentioned Kalija Lipscomb’s being banged up. Everybody knows about the quarterback issues for Vandy this year. That means that Derek Mason will do everything within his power to make sure his 5’10” 218-pound senior running back gets as many touches as he can when facing Tennessee football on Saturday.

For the year, Vaughn is averaging nearly five and a half yards a carry. He has 192 carries for 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns. On the receiving end, he has added 27 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown, resulting in 1,280 yards overall.

Simply put, Vaughn is an elite weapon, and he is hard to stop. As a result, the Vols need to be prepared for him in every way possible. If Vandy has any chance of winning, it will be with him gaining big yards. They have gained close to 150 rushing yards with him leading the way in all of their victories. They’ll look to him again.

Jeremy Pruitt and Derrick Ansley have been pretty good about stopping one-dimensional offenses or offenses that rely on one player. But like Lynn Bowden Jr. did to them, that one player can still torch Tennessee football. So they have to be ready. He’s incredibly talented and will be very dangerous in Knoxville.
