Early on, Ahkeelo Witherspoon was guarding Stefon Diggs. On the second offensive drive for the Minnesota Vikings, Kirk Cousins cashed in on that mismatch and hit Diggs for a 41-yard touchdown pass to tie the game up at 7.
The San Francisco 49ers then put Moseley on Diggs. Well, for the rest of the game, Diggs had one catch for 16 yards. Cousins was five-of-seven for 65 yards and a touchdown before the 49ers put Moseley on Diggs. For the rest of the game, Cousins 16-of-22 for 107 yards and an interception.
Simply put, Moseley made all the difference. He came away with five tackles and two pass deflections, and he was key to the 49ers defense shutting down Minnesota en route to their 27-10 win to get to the NFC Championship. There is no way anybody can ignore just how valuable he was in this win all the way around.
As a result, there’s no debate that Moseley was the best former Tennessee football player on the field over the weekend. He completely changed the game, and now he and Dustin Colquitt are both about to play for a chance to reach the Super Bowl. Can one or both of them do it? We’ll find out this Sunday.
