Jauan Jennings. 1. player. Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. Senior. 839. Scouting Report

For Jauan Jennings, this season wasn’t just one in which he became Tennessee football’s best player. It helped him etch his name in the history books as one of the greatest leaders and playmakers in school history.

More from All for Tennessee

Jennings showed his value in 2016, as a sophomore at the time, with his go-ahead touchdown against the Florida Gators and Hail Mary to beat the Georgia Bulldogs. But a season-ending injury in 2017, subsequent dismissal and return and then an entire 2018 campaign focused on getting back into rhythm held back his potential.

This was the year for him to be fully healthy and prove his value. He did not disappoint. Jennings had 59 receptions for 969 yards and eight touchdowns, and he also had a rushing touchdown. Six of his eight receiving touchdowns resulted in lead changes.

Simply put, this guy could not stop being a playmaker. He had four games with over 100 yards receiving, and he led the nation in broken tackles by a receiver. He finished his career No. 4 on the all-time receiving list for the Vols with 2,153 yards, and he tied for No. 5 in all-time career touchdowns with 18. Oh, he also finished fifth in career receptions with 146.

Very few players in Tennessee football history had the leadership qualities and playmaking abilities to become as beloved as Jennings, but he did just that. He will be missed on Rocky Top, and despite getting robbed of All-SEC recognition, he is still UT’s top player of the year.
