Tennessee football: Four Vols whose return to health could help in 2020
A four-star junior college transfer in Jeremy Pruitt’s first recruiting class, Jordan Allen has still not reached his hype as an outside rusher for Tennessee football. This year is his chance to finally explode onto the scene.

We have Allen at No. 1 more based on our expectations for his potential. It’s certainly not based on what he’s done. To be fair, Allen underwent surgery in fall camp to repair a torn hip flexor. That nagging injury kept him off the field all season long, and now, entering his redshirt senior season, he is trying to get things turned around on the field.
The good news for him is that the Vols desperately need his return. Darrell Taylor, their top edge rushers, is now gone. Although Kivon Bennett and Deandre Johnson have made some plays, neither has stood out yet. Pruitt has lamented the limited number of edge rushers he has and continues to try to build that unit up every year.
With Allen coming back, the Vols have another option to deal with such a big loss along with Roman Harrison and their new recruits. The lack of depth at that position and the key loss, though, make any player getting healthy here a big impact.
Now, we are still basing this off of Allen’s four-star status when he initially committed to Tennessee football. His talents matter, and we still say he has them. As a result, the other issues we mentioned at the outside linebacker spot is why his return tops this list.
