Wide Receiver. 4-star. James BlackStrain. Pick Analysis. 7. player. 839. Scouting Report

Returning to the clear need at wide receiver, Tennessee football is establishing a bit of a Florida pipeline, getting a couple of elite guys from that state each year. The Vols have a great chance to land an incredible prospect from that state in 2021 if they stick at it and also continue making wide receivers look as great as Jauan Jennings and Marquez Callaway looked in 2019.

James BlackStrain, a four-star on Rivals, is a top 50 player at his position nationally and a top 50 player in the state of Florida. His rankings aren’t as high as other guys we have named, but the 6’2″ 175-pound prospect plays receiver and can be a real threat. There is a reason he is drawing interest from numerous schools all across the country.

Coming out of Holy Trinity Academy in Melbourne, Fla., BlackStrain is clearly a wideout given what his size already is. The one catch with him is the fact that he was being recruited by David Johnson, who has now gone to the Florida State Seminoles. However, the Vols have plenty of time to make up that ground with them given their reshuffled staff.

Rocky Top is in his top five with the Utah Utes, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks. There are no 247Sports Crystal Ball or Rivals FutureCast, but the Rivals FanFutureCast has UF as a favorite to land him by a plurality.
