Payton Page is that guy. UT has only begun to trend with him recently, but the Vols have a full year to make an impression. And they should do whatever they can to surge with him during that time, as he would be a huge pickup for this program.
A four-star on Rivals out of Dudley High School in Greensboro, N.C., Page is a top 30 player nationally, the No. 2 ranked player at his position and the top-ranked player in the state. He stands at an incredible 6’4″ 315 pounds, and he is actually a five-star on the 247Sports Composite rankings. So the guy is incredible.
It’s also worth noting that the Vols do need major help at defensive tackle with so many guys leaving after this year. Emmit Gooden, Savion Williams, Darel Middleton and Aubrey Solomon will all be gone. So Jeremy Pruitt needs immediate depth up front. Page fills a need and is an incredible talent, which is why he’s the top prospect.
Already in his top five with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers and Clemson Tigers, Tennessee football is gaining momentum. Now, Clemson is a 75 percent favorite on the 247Sports Crystal Ball with UNC at 25 percent, and Clemson is a favorite by a majority on the Rivals FanFutureCast . But there are no Rivals FutureCast picks, so the Vols have a great shot.
