Fulkerson didn’t do it for just a half. He did it all game. When Kentucky first had built its 17-point lead, Fulkerson was the only player performing for the Vols at that point. He had 15 points, and before James hit that three-pointer, he had 18 points. But after that three-pointer, Fulkerson continued to play at a high level to make sure James wasn’t alone.
Down the stretch of the game, Fulkerson had nine points to help with the comeback. As a result, he finished with a dominant box score, coming down with 27 points, six rebounds and two assists. He was incredible all game.
From an efficiency standpoint, Fulkerson hit 10-of-15 shots from the field, and he hit all seven free throw attempts. He also only had two turnovers. So given his high usage rate, he was incredible in every way he could be. Stepping up to have his best game on the Vols’ biggest stage was a huge accomplishment for Fulkerson.
Remember, the junior forward did this in Rupp Arena against a top 10 team on national television. His performance had all the elements of greatness, so it’s the best individual game played by anybody this season for Tennessee basketball.
