Pick Analysis. 1. 839. Scouting Report. Wide Receiver. Senior. Josh Palmer. player

In 2018, Josh Palmer had a breakout year. He was Tennessee football’s second leading receivier with 23 receptions for 484 yards and three total touchdowns. However, his usage was due to the Vols needing time to get Jauan Jennings healthy again.

When 2019 rolled around, Jennings and Marquez Callaway became the clear go-to guys. As a result, Palmer’s production dipped a bit. He was still important though, as the No. 3 receiver, with 34 receptions for 457 yards and a touchdown, and that touchdown proved critical in a 17-13 win at the Kentucky Wildcats.

Now, heading into this year, with Callaway and Jennings gone, Palmer is expected to be the go-to receiver at 6’2″ 200 pounds as a senior. Sure, Brandon Johndon’s redshirt is lifted, Ramel Keyton has a ton of potential, three and potentially four four-star receivers committed and transfers like Velus Jones Jr. and Miles Jones have arrived. But Palmer stands out above all of them.

That’s an impressive accomplishment for a guy who was once a three-star from Canada, largely due to his need to develop the fundamentals of playing receiver. Heading into this year, it appears he has developed those fundamentals, and this appears to be his time to step up and become a star receiver on Rocky Top.

With Jennings gone, Palmer has big shoes to fill as the go-to guy. But Tennessee football needs him, and he now has the chance to show just how great he can be. That potential as a senior who was once a three-star puts him atop this list easily.
