. . New Orleans Saints. 1. team. 15.

At this moment, the New Orleans Saints are the franchise that have found steals with Tennessee football players. Alvin Kamara fell to them in the third round of the NFL Draft, and they then signed Shy Tuttle last year as an undrafted free agent.

The success of Tuttle specifically will probably encourage them to given an even greater look to former Vols on defense, and that’s a major advantage to Daniel Bituli. Again, he just needs to go to a franchise that will give him a serious chance at getting into the rotation, and the Saints are definitely one of those franchises.

Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen has been a huge part of helping this franchise find overlooked talent. To help Bituli out, he also is looking for specific players who can provide depth more than anything else, giving him the luxury of guys he can look to get a steal on. Bituli certainly fits that mold, and with Kiko Alonso coming off an ACL tear, he probably clearly wants another linebacker.

Bituli would also fit well in a defense that is a bit more finesse, playing inside a dome, due to his versatility as a linebacker and his strength being his ability to pick up defenses and read offenses. The Saints fit that mold for him as well. Although they don’t have a need for an edge rusher and run a 4-3, there are enough things about that franchise working in his favor.

As a result, this is clearly the best landing spot for Bituli in the 2020 NFL Draft. New Orleans knows what unheralded Tennessee football prospects can bring to the table, and Bituli is a guy who can continue that tradition. So don’t be surprised if he ends up there.
