Marquez Callaway and Derek Barnett were teammates for one year with Tennessee football, back in 2016. Why not reunite them? The Philadelphia Eagles should seriously consider it by taking Callaway late in the NFL Draft.

With Nelson Agholor replaced by DeSean Jackson, the Eagles lost a bit of size, and it’s questionably if they replenished the speed, as Jackson is getting old. Because of that, they are likely looking for a speedy-enough receiver who provides a certain level of size, and Callaway clearly does that with his 6’2″ frame and 4.55 40-time.
Callaway and Alshon Jeffery would also provide a skillful duo and two clear wideouts for Carson Wentz to throw to. If Jackson plays on the outside, Callaway has a chance to be a surprisingly very good slot receiver. His size and ability to make things happen in open space make him a solid fit at any receiver position in the pros.
Even better for Callaway, given Jackson’s age, is the fact that the Eagles need a more reliable punt returner. Darren Sproles has retired, and Boston Scott was the only other returner to prove somewhat effective last year. He still wasn’t great, meaning Callaway could easily step right into that role if Jackson doesn’t have the speed he once had.
Combine all of this with Callaway going to a competent organization, and Philly is a perfect fit. The last time they took a Tennessee football player in the NFL Draft, they won the Super Bowl the next year. Maybe they should consider doing it again.
