Tennessee football: Vols LB Darrell Taylor’s five best NFL Draft landing spots
Yes, we are valuing the New York Giants very high for lots of Tennessee football players given the connections their coaches have to Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols. This is a place where, if taken in the NFL Draft, Vols will have a fair shake.

Obviously, we’re talking about Kevin Sherrer, who was the Vols’ inside linebackers coach the last two years and their co-defensive coordinator in 2018. Former UT head coach Derek Dooley was the Missouri Tigers’ offensive coordinator last year, and he saw Darrell Taylor put pressure on Kelly Bryant all night.
However, beyond the connections, the Giants are a great fit for Darrell Taylor as well. They just signed Kyler Fackrell from the Green Bay Packers, and at 6’5″ 245 pounds, he has the exact frame of an edge rusher they are looking for. They desperately need to build depth there, though, meaning they need to add a couple of more players at that profile.
As a result, Taylor is the perfect fit there. He could come in and develop next to Fackrell, who has only signed a one-year deal, and he could then be the surprise impact player on the other side or potentially the main edge rusher depending on what happens in 2021. Joe Judge will likely be looking for a guy like that for the long term.
Last year, the Giants struggled mightily with a 3-4 defense. New coordinator Patrick Graham is going to operate out of a multiple set, which will be fine for Taylor. Given his experience with Tennessee football, this is easily the best place for him to go in the NFL Draft.
