The wait was worth it. Jauan Jennings was Tennessee football’s leader and top producer last year, and he is now going to a franchise that has an exact need for a guy like him. Jauan Jennings could put the San Francisco 49ers over the top.

When it comes to production and size, the 6’3″ 215-pound wide receiver already has it with his nearly 1,000 yards receiving, 11 total touchdowns and ability to lead the nation in forced missed tackles by a receiver. We could speak to that alone.

However, Jennings’ big-game performances are really what make him a great fit with San Francisco, as eight of his touchdowns resulted in lead changes, and he caught the go-ahead touchdown and Hail Mary touchdown in wins over the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs. Given how Kyle Shanahan blew that Super Bowl lead, he could’ve used a big-play guy.

Then there are needs. San Francisco just lost Emmanuel Sanders, and now they have no go-to players of any significant height. Jennings, provided he proves himself, would immediately become the biggest target. As a result, he could be a major safety blanket for Jimmy Garoppolo by playing in the slot, which would really open up the offense. They needed that in the playoffs.

Simply put, Jennings is a perfect fit in San Francisco. Add in his leadership qualities, and he could provide just the level of fight and spark that offense needs to make sure it doesn’t blow two-score Super Bowl leads in the future.
