For the third straight day, Tennessee football recruiting got an elite pickup. Four-star wide receiver Julian Nixon of Roswell, Ga. chose the Volunteers.

Jeremy Pruitt is on a roll. On Sunday, Tennessee football secured an elite commitment out of Alabama away from the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers in edge rusher Dylan Brooks. The next day, they secured an elite commitment out of Florida away from the Florida Gators, where he was initially committed, in defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson.

Now, the Vols have secured an elite commitment out of Georgia away from the Georgia Bulldogs. Julian Nixon, a four-star on Rivals out of Centennial High School in Roswell, Ga., committed to Rocky Top Tuesday morning.

At 6’4″ 225 pounds, Nixon is a top 200 ranked player nationally, the No. 34 ranked player at his position and the No. 20 ranked player in the state of Georgia. He announced his commitment to Tennessee football on Twitter.

However, with even just these three guys, Pruitt has restocked the roster there. Remember, he lost Jauan Jennings, Marquez Callaway and Tyler Byrd from last year’s team, and he is losing Josh Palmer and Brandon Johnson after this year. With three four-star receivers and three athletes committed last year, he’s got the position set for the future.

Given his size, Nixon brings a level of physical skill that will be hard to match. He is similar to Dee Beckwith and Malachi Wideman, who are 6’5″ 215 pounds and 6’4″ 190 pounds respectively and committed last year.

The two commitments in this year’s class, Mosley and Walker Merrill, are 6’0″ 180 pounds and 6’1″ 175 pounds respectively. So Nixon’s commitment makes for a complete receiving corps. in this year’s class alone, giving Jim Chaney numerous options in the passing game. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, despite his size, speed and agility were the initial selling points of Nixon’s game. He was outrunning defensive backs and eluding them as a freshman, and that was against elite Georgia high school talent. He still knows how to use his size, though, as he was out-jumping numerous defensive backs on fade routes. So he already looks like a complete receiver.

With his commitment, Nixon joins four-star defensive back Doneiko Slaughter from last year’s class as two players from Roswell, Ga. now on the team. He is Tennessee football’s first Georgia commitment for 2021, and he’s the 13th commitment overall. His addition pushed the Vols’ national ranking into the top five, right at No. 5. Simply put, Pruitt is winning big on the trail.
