For the second time in a week, Tennessee football recruiting picked up a former Florida commit. Outside linebacker Terrence Lewis chose the Volunteers.

Three days after securing a commitment four-star defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson, Tennessee football picked up another player who was once committed to the Florida Gators. It also made for their fifth pickup of the week.

Terrence Lewis, who was committed to Florida back in the spring of 2019, committed to Rocky Top Thursday afternoon. A four-star on Rivals, Lewis is a five-star on 247Sports. He’s the second 247Sports five-star and fourth player with at least a four-star ranking across all services to commit to the Vols this week.

Coming out of Chaminade-Madonna in Hollywood, Fla., Lewis is the No. 1 ranked player at his position, No. 6 ranked player in his home state and No. 19 ranked player nationally. He announced his commitment to Tennessee football on Twitter.

At 6’1″ 200 pounds, Lewis makes for another highly ranked outside rusher to commit to Rocky Top who can play off the line of scrimmage. Jeremy Pruitt has been trying to build depth at that position, whether it be weakside defensive ends or outside linebackers, for a while. Even before the departure of Darrell Taylor, depth was a problem there.

Lewis joins Dylan Brooks, the other 247Sports five-star who committed earlier in the week and is a weakside defensive end, as guys who could help fill that void immediately. With the addition of four-stars Tamarion McDonald and Morven Joseph in the 2020 class and Roman Harrison in 2019, the talent is building there.

In addition to being the second edge rusher and fourth player with at least a four-star ranking to commit this week, Lewis is the sixth player with at least a four-star ranking to commit to the Vols’ 2021 class. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, Lewis uses his speed to rush the quarterback, but he also has great vision and can be a threat when dropping back in coverage. He will need to put on some weight if he’s going to stay outside linebacker at the next level, but his abilities are perfect for what Pruitt and the Vols need going forward.

With his decision, Tennessee football’s top 10 class now has 15 commitments for 2021, and they have three players from the state of Florida. Simply put, Pruitt is dominating on the trail, and he picked it up right after the end of the NFL Draft.
