Tennessee football: Top 10 Vols with 2021 NFL Draft potential
If Jim Chaney has shown anything with Tennessee football, it’s that he knows how to produce NFL receivers. In 2012, he put Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson into the pros. This year, Palmer is expected to be the Vols’ go-to receiver. As the No. 3 guy, he has gone over 450 yards each of the past two years and has three total touchdowns. Coming from Canada, he was always recruited for his raw potential, and he has developed dramatically each year. He’s similar to Yves Pons in basketball in that front.
Well, if he takes a leap like what Pons did this past year, which we expect to happen, he should become a superstar. Palmer has proven he can make difficult catches and win 50-50 balls, and he will be the feature guy this year. Combine that with his 6’2″ 200-pound frame, and he’s got the necessary physical attributes to be a receiver at the next level. He just needs to show production.
Brandon Johnson and Ramel Keyton are likely to be in the rotation as well this year, but Palmer has the most experience and the most potential of the unit. So him as the feature guy in Chaney’s system can only mean he’ll be a star in 2020.
