Four-star 2021 RB Cody Brown commits to Tennessee football
The hot streak on the recruiting trail continued for Tennessee football Sunday, as a four-star running back from Lilburn, Ga. chose the Volunteers.
How much winning can Jeremy Pruitt do in one week? After securing his second commitment for Sunday, May 3, he has now added seven players to the 2021 Tennessee football recruiting class within an eight-day timeframe.
Running back Cody Brown committed to the Vols that afternoon. A four-star on Rivals, Brown is a top 70 player nationally, the No. 5 ranked player at his position and the No. 5 ranked player from the state of Georgia.
Coming out of Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga., Brown followed Florida defensive back De’Shawn Rucker as Tennessee football’s two commitments for the day. He announced his decision to attend Rocky Top on Twitter.

With Brown’s commitment, five of the Vols’ pickups during this eight-day period are four-stars. Two are from the state of Georgia in Brown and four-star wide receiver Julian Nixon, and two a running backs in Brown and three-star junior college transfer Tiyon Evans.
Pruitt has now stocked up the program at running back for the future, as Ty Chandler, Tim Jordan and Carlin Fils-Aime are all about to be seniors. He has Evans and Brown for next year, and UT’s 2020 class included in-state backs Tee Hodge of Maryville and Jabari Small of Memphis. Add in Eric Gray, who became a breakout star as a freshman, and the Vols are now loaded.
At 6’0″ 211 pounds, Brown is more of a pure running back than the other guys. Gray is an all-purpose back, and that is what Small is likely to be. Evans is more of a power back with his 5’9″ 225-pound frame, as is Tee Hodge at 6’2″ 230 pounds. Brown appears able to combine both styles. Here is a look at his highlight reel.
As you can see, Brown is tough to bring down, and he’s pretty good at making his first cut and reading the blocking behind the line of scrimmage. He doesn’t look like the quickest person on the field, but he has solid breakaway speed once he gets out into open space.
After such a strong week, Brown is Tennessee football’s 17th commitment overall. He is also their sixth four-star, and he and Nixon are the only two players in the entire class from Georgia. So he continues a red-hot streak for Pruitt that doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon.
