Another elite 2021 prospect chose Tennessee football. Defensive tackle KaTron Evans of Baltimore, Md. committed to Jeremy Pruitt’s Volunteers.

Jeremy Pruitt continued the hot streak for Tennessee football on the recruiting trail to areas outside of the SEC on Saturday. Now, he is stretching into the DMV for talent, and he secured an elite pickup there.

Defensive tackle KaTron Evans committed to the Vols Saturday evening. As the ninth commitment to Rocky Top within a two-week period for its 2021 class, Evans comes out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md.

A four-star on Rivals, Evans is listed as the No. 11 ranked player nationally at his position and No. 6 ranked player in the state of Maryland. He announced his decision to commit to Tennessee football on Twitter.

With his commitment to, Evans is the seventh player with at least a four-star rating in the Vols’ 2021 recruiting class, which was already ranked No. 2 across various recruiting services, including Rivals and 247Sports. He is the sixth player with that rating in the past two weeks.

In addition to being the seventh four-star, Evans is the 19th commitment overall to the program and the second defensive tackle, joining Isaac Washington out of North Carolina. He is the first player from the state of Maryland.

At 6’5″ 265 pounds, Evans clearly has the height to be effective, but his rating is based on skill and potential since he needs to add size in order to be able to compete in the SEC. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, despite his lack of size, Evans has a great understanding of leverage and knows how to get a push up front. He clearly has a ton of potential at the position and has an ability to get in the quarterback’s eyes.

Given the fact that Tennessee football will lose at least five defensive linemen after this year, Pruitt did a great job targeting Evans and getting him as a pickup. After all, he clearly needs to reload there, and Evans allows for that to happen. As a result, he is a huge pickup.
