With a top five 2020 class, Tennessee basketball is looking to 2021. Rick Barnes has the Volunteers in the top 10 for Dallas small forward Harrison Ingram.

Not content to settle or be outdone by Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee football, Rick Barnes is making sure Tennessee basketball recruiting stays sharp for 2021. It started by offering four-star center Micawber Etienne, who could reclassify as a 2020 prospect, over the weekend.

However, on Monday the Vols made even bigger news on that front. Texas wingman Harrison Ingram, a five-star on Rivals, trimmed his list down to 10 schools, and Rocky Top managed to make the cut.

Ingram had Tennessee basketball in there with the Baylor Bears, Louisville Cardinals, Michigan Wolverines, Arkansas Razorbacks, Memphis Tigers, Purdue Boilermakers, Stanford Cardinal, North Carolina Tar Heels and Texas A&M Aggies. He announced his list on Twitter.

At 6’7″ 205 pounds, Ingram comes out of St. Mark’s High School in Dallas. He is the No. 13 ranked player and No. 4 ranked forward nationally. Simply put, he’s an elite prospect, and the Vols would be very lucky to get him.

Of course, two wing players were part of UT’s 2020 class, but neither of them are one of the five-stars in the class, and one of them, Malachi Wideman, is only 6’4″ and is more likely to focus on football. That could also mean both are more likely to be back when Ingram arrives, though. Add in Davonte Gaines, and Barnes could be loaded there.

Still, we don’t know how it’s all going to work out, so Ingram could be a great addition. Landing him would be hard enough for the Vols, so they don’t need to worry about whether or not he’ll fit into the roster right now.

After all, the Stanford Cardinal and Purdue Boilermakers are tied as the favorites to land him on the Rivals Future Cast. Purdue is a majority favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast. With only two predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Stanford is the unanimous favorite to land him there.

So Tennessee basketball will have an uphill climb to land Ingram, but given Barnes success in 2020, he’s got some momentum. The fact that he’s not resting on that success is a great sign for Rocky Top, and look for the Vols to land some splash commitments soon.
