Tennessee football makes cut for 2021 Alabama DE

With a string of recruiting successes, Tennessee football may not be done. The Volunteers made Albertville, Ala. defensive end Trinity Bell’s top five.

Jeremy Pruitt just keeps building on his momentum. After 11 commitments in a two-week span, including three in this past weekend alone and seven four-stars overall, Tennessee football made the cut for another prospect on Monday.

Strongside defensive end Trinity Bell, a 2021 prospects out of Albertville High School in Albertville, Ala., listed the Vols in his top five. A three-star on Rivals, Bell is the No. 11 ranked player within the state of Alabama. He doesn’t have any ranking nationally yet.

In addition to Tennessee football, Bell had the Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, Kentucky Wildcats and UCF Knights in his top five. So he had four SEC schools and an AAC school. He announced his list on Twitter.

Bell is not unique to next year’s Vols class being from Alabama. Currently, five of the commitments in that group are from the state. He is also not unique as a strongside defensive end, as three-star Darrell Jackson and four-star  Dylan Brooks are both commitments at that position. Brooks is from Alabama as well.

At 6’7″ 250 pounds, Bell certainly provides a unique size advantage to Rocky Top. He would also still help the Vols beef up there, as they are set to lose all three main edge rushers in their rotation who play up on the line by 2022. Pruitt was already lamenting the lack of depth there, so this makes guys like Bell even more important.

UT is also in great position to land him right now. They are a unanimous favorite on the Rivals Future Cast and a favorite by a majority on the Rivals Fan Future Cast to land him. There are no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for him yet.

Obviously, Auburn would appear to be the biggest competition, but Tennessee football has a lot to sell given what has happened on the trail in recent weeks. It’s also worth noting that Bell’s stock is likely to rise with another year. He’s only a three-star because he was out of football for two years, focusing on basketball. So he could be a major steal for Pruitt in the long run.
