A Milledgeville, Ga. defensive back has the Tennessee football Volunteers in his top seven.

Jeremy Pruitt has been a bit quiet on the recruiting trail over the past week. That changed this weekend, as Tennessee football made the cut for another solid prospect out of the state of Georgia to add to its No. 2 ranked class.

Javon Bullard of Milledgevilla, Ga. put the Vols in his top seven. A three-star on Rivals, Bullard comes out of Baldwin High School. Listed officially as a cornerback, he is a top 50 player at his position and the No. 56 ranked player within his home state.

Joining Tennessee football in his top seven were the Georgia Bulldogs, Louisville Cardinals, N.C. State Wolflack, Pittsburgh Panthers, South Carolina Gamecocks and West Virginia Mountaineers. He announced his list Saturday evening on Twitter.

At 6’0″ 168 pounds, Bullard has solid size already to play cornerback. With Bryce Thompson and Alontae Taylor possibly leaving after this upcoming season, it’s clear that Pruitt needs to upgrade the cornerback position and build as much depth as possible there.

Currently, Rocky Top has five defensive backs committed for 2021, and three-star athlete Elijah Howard is likely to double as another defensive back. So Pruitt is loading up on numbers when it comes to the position.

Should he commit, Bullard would also continue the Vols’ pipeline into the state of Georgia, a focus for Pruitt ever since he took over. There are currently three players from that state already committed in the 2021 class.

There are no favorites to land Bullard on the Rivals Future Cast or the 247Sports Crystal Ball. The Rivals Fan Future Cast has Pitt as the favorite by a plurality, but that’s not a scientific poll. As a result, Tennessee football could certainly be in play to land him. Making this cut was the first step. We’ll need to know more, though, to see if the Vols are serious contenders.
