Former Volunteers and current New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has a new love.

Decked out in Bubba Wallace gear, former Tennessee football running back Alvin Kamara made his way to his first NASCAR event. The elite Vols weapon attended Cup Series Race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla. Sunday.

The race itself, which was set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET, was delayed due to lightning. It was obviously not the experience the elite all-purpose back wanted to have when attending his first event with the sport.

An All-Pro who is entering his fourth year with the New Orleans Saints, Alvin Kamara has been publicly supportive of NASCAR this week and watched a race Wednesday, asking when the next race would be. He posted a video of himself on Instagram attending the race.

After that post, Kamara began to tweet updates of him learning about the sport. He was very supportive of NASCAR fans clearly appeared to be having a good time. You can follow his experiences on his account here.

During the Butch Jones years, Kamara was probably the best example of under-utilized talent. He had to split time with Jalen Hurd and then John Kelly, so much that he fell to the third round in the 2017 NFL Draft, shocking the Saints with how good he is.

Since his arrival in the pros, he’s had a huge hand in revitalizing the Saints’ offense behind Sean Payton and Drew Brees, making three Pro Bowls in three years. All his success did was make Jones look even worse.

Now, he is taking up a new interest, and given what he’s done so far, he could certainly be an entertaining ambassador for the sport of NASCAR, which has been looking for a splash for years. It was unfortunate that he had to deal with a weather issue in the first event he attended. However, Alvin Kamara likely be attending more in the future.
