Tennessee football commit Kamar Wilcoxson to play in All-America game
Kamar Wilcoxson gives Tennessee football Volunteers fans something to watch at the Under Armour event.
Given its No. 2 ranked 2021 recruiting class, Tennessee football was bound to have a commitment invited to a national postseason game. Well, the Vols got that with one of their players from the state of Florida.
Defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson, a four-star on Rivals out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., will play in the 2021 Under Armour All-American game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. The game will likely be played at some point in January.
At 6’2″ 185 pounds, Wilcoxson is one of Tennessee football’s standout commitments, especially since he is ranked as a top 250 player nationally. He announced that he would be playing in the game Tuesday on Twitter.

Although this won’t do anything to boost the Vols’ rankings for 2021, Wilcoxson deciding to play there is still a big help. Whenever college recruits can play in those national postseason games, other recruits are able to take notice.
Wilcoxson draws a connection to UT’s history with player commitments in postseason games in a reverse way. That’s because Wilcoxson was initially committed to the Florida Gators but decommitted before choosing the Vols back in April.
Well, one of Florida’s most notable players, quarterback Chris Leak, committed to the Gators at the U.S. Army Bowl in 2003. He did so after the Vols were in the lead to land him throughout the summer months and early Fall of 2002 before falling out of the running.
Anyway, back to Wilcoxson, he will give many Vol fans a great chance to showcase what he can do on a national stage with this game. Given his height, he has a chance to be a major playmaker at the next level, and Jeremy Pruitt certainly will need help there soon given the fact that safety is a bit thin this year and their top four cornerbacks could be gone by next year.
