Jeremy Pruitt had some interesting updates on the Tennessee football Volunteers Thursday.

On Thursday, Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt addressed a group of reporters in a zoom call to update the program. There were three major pieces of information he revealed in that call: Tim Jordan is gone, there are talks of bringing back the black jerseys and no player has yet tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Patrick Brown of GoVols247, Pruitt announced Jordan, a rising senior running back, is no longer with the program. Jordan was arrested back in May on gun and marijuana charges in his home state of Florida, which you can read about here.

Over the past two years, Jordan been a fixture in the rotation, gaining over 1,100 yards from scrimmage and scoring four touchdowns. With him gone, Tennessee football will have to turn to Ty Chandler, Eric Gray and likely now senior Carlin Fils-Aime, who took a redshirt last year.

In addition to the news about Jordan, Pruitt said that the black jerseys may come back. UT wore the jerseys with orange pants on Halloween when they hosted the South Carolina Gamecocks back in 2009, Lane Kiffin’s only season on Rocky Top. The Vols won that game and haven’t worn them since.

Pruitt said he and the players talked about wearing the black jerseys for their Nov. 7 showdown with the Kentucky Wildcats and then auctioning off those jerseys with the proceeds going to a Black Lives Matter charity of some kind, according to Grant Ramey of GoVols247. Pruitt credited Tee Martin with his leadership in finding ways to create change when discussing these ideas.

Reporters covering the press conference also confirmed on Twitter that Pruitt said there have still been no players test positive for coronavirus and that the program is in the process of getting its players registered to vote. Finally, he said that all the young guys will have a chance to play immediately when and if the season begins.

Taking all this into account, Tennessee football once again provided more reasons for fans to be excited about the start of the year. Pruitt is clearly doing what it takes to keep his players happy while exciting the fan base, he’s on top of all disciplinary issues and he is taking the right medical precautions as the pandemic still rages on.
