The WNBA star honored the Tennessee Lady Vols legend on the anniversary of her death.

Sunday, June 28, 2020, marked the four-year anniversary of the death of Tennessee women’s basketball legendary head coach Pat Summitt. Former Lady Volunteers forward Candace Parker, never one to hide her affection for her college coach, made sure to remember it.

A WNBA champion, two-time WNBA MVP and Olympic Gold Medalist, Parker has always remembered her time on Rocky Top playing for Summitt. She was a two-time national champion and women’s player of the year.

Because of the Los Angeles Sparks star’s appreciation for the greatest women’s basketball legend of all time, Candace Parker had a great post on Sunday about missing her. Here is the post, which she shared on her Instagram account.

It’s clear that Parker never forgets to remember the UT legend. When she won her first WNBA title back in 2016 and earned Finals MVP in the process, she broke down and dedicated it to Summitt. Here is a video of that.

Even in 2012, when Summitt won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs, Parker was one of the people to speak about her in a video feature on the legend that was narrated by Reese Witherspoon. So she has always been one of the most vocal people about how much Summitt meant to her.

Over a 38-year career as a head coach that included eight national titles, Summitt is one of the most inspirational people in the history of sports. She single-handedly made women’s basketball a national phenomenon, and even four years after her death, her impact on the sport only continues to get bigger.
