The event will host future Tennessee football Volunteers quarterback Kaidon Salter.

On Monday, the Elite 11 Finals were underway for the top quarterbacks in the 2021 recruiting class, and a Tennessee football commitment was at the event. It will be the third time in three years, following Harrison Bailey in 2019 and Brian Maurer in 2018, that this was the case.

Dual-threat Kaidon Salter out of Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas was among 20 quarterbacks to arrive in the state for the event. Salter, a three-star on Rivals but a four-star on the 247Sports Composite ratings, committed to UT back on May 10.

Beginning on Sunday with his arrival, Salter began tracking his experience beginning with his arrival in Nashville. The Tennessee football commitment is consistently doing it on his Instagram page with stories and multiple videos, and he posted multiple videos on Twitter as well.

This year’s Elite 11 Finals is closed to the public due to coronavirus. It is set to last through Wednesday, July 1, and will give us a much better understanding of where these quarterbacks rank in the overall 2021 class.

At 6’1″ 185 pounds, Salter will obviously be looking to show off his versatility. After all, his mobility has to be a selling point given the fact that he is a bit undersized, and that’s certainly what Jeremy Pruitt and his staff value in the guy.

In addition to Bailey and Maurer, Jarrett Guarantano also competed in the Elite 11 Finals way back in 2015. So Rocky Top has done a great job of securing quarterbacks who made it to this event, regardless of which system was being run or who was head coach.

If Salter can make a splash, his ratings will likely increase. Also, he beings a massive level of variety to what could be a very intriguing starting quarterback race for Tennessee football heading into the 2021 season.

Provided Guarantano holds onto the job, the race could come down to four dual-threat guys in Maurer, Salter, Kasim Hill and Jimmy Holiday and two pocket passers in Bailey and JT Shrout. That would be an epic battle to watch. Salter can prove his worthiness with his performance this week.
