Sports Illustrated recognized four Tennessee football Volunteers.

With two first-teamers and two second-teamers, Tennessee football was well-represented on the 2020 SI Preseason All-SEC team. The Vols’ representatives included two offensive linemen, a linebacker and a kicker.

Rising senior offensive lineman Trey Smith and rising senior place kicker Brent Cimaglia were both named First Team All-SEC. Smith earned First Team All-SEC for the second time in three years last year, and he earned it both times he played offensive guard.

Cimaglia, meanwhile, made the list after nailing 23 of 27 field goals and not missing an extra point last year while also hitting both attempts beyond 50. He was nine-of-11 on field goals beyond 40 yards. However, he was Second Team All-SEC last year.

Beyond Smith and Cimaglia, Tennessee football had a transfer and a rising star make Second Team All-SEC. One of them was rising junior offensive lineman Cade Mays, who transferred from the Georgia Bulldogs this offseason and is seeking an eligibility waiver to play this year.

The other player is rising sophomore linebacker Henry To’o To’o, a Freshman All-American last year who figures to take an even larger role with the departure of Daniel Bituli. Expectations for To’o To’o to lead the UT defense are through the roof.

Of course, this is all contingent on if a season even happens, but in terms of the rankings themselves, Vol fans have to hope that Mays receives that waiver he’s expecting from the NCAA. Otherwise, this All-SEC recognition will be irrelevant.

Jeremy Pruitt’s team was tied for fourth with four other schools in terms of who had the most All-SEC players. The Alabama Crimson Tide led the way with 10, and the Georgia Bulldogs and LSU Tigers each tied for second with eight. Following them were the Vols, Kentucky Wildcats, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida Gators and Auburn Tigers.

In terms of First Team All-SEC players, UT was tied for fifth with three other teams. Again, Alabama led the way with eight. LSU came in second with five, Georgia came in third with four and Florida came in fourth with three. Tennessee football was joined by Auburn, Kentucky and the Missouri Tigers with two each.
