The Tennessee football Volunteers made the cut for this legacy tight end from Acworth, Ga.

While still looking for a first commitment in its 2022 recruiting class, Tennessee football has been trending for lots of targets in recent weeks. On Wednesday, they made the cut for a key player in that class with connections to the program.

Rocky Top made the top three for Georgia tight end Bennett Christian. A three-star on Rivals and 247Sports, Christian is the son of Bill Christian, who played defensive tackle for Johnny Majors in 1977 and 1979.

Joining Tennessee football on Christian’s list are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions. The 6’6″ 235-pound prospect out of Allatoona High School in Acworth, Ga. announced the schools on Twitter.

Tight end has been a focus of Jeremy Pruitt’s after not securing any commitments at that position for 2020. He has added three players at that position for his 2021 class, including three-stars Roc Taylor and Jaylen Wright and four-star Hudson Wolfe. Three-star defensive end Trinity Bell could also double as a tight end.

With Austin Pope and new convert Jordan Allen both being seniors this upcoming year and Princeton Fant being a junior, the Vols clearly need to restock their cupboard. However, they will still be loaded at the position in 2021 due to all these new commitments.

Still, Christian would help continue that revolving door, and it’s always important for Vol fans to keep legacy players. He also could potentially have his stock rise dramatically, as he already has a high rating for a tight end over a year and a half away from National Signing Day for the Class of 2022. The guy only just finished his sophomore year.

As of right now, there are no Rivals Future Cast or 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Christian. However, Tennessee football is a majority favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast, which could count for something even if it’s not an official list of predictions. We have no way of knowing where he will land, but UT does have an early connection.
