This year, Georgia is tougher than Alabama. Playing the Dawgs in Athens is one reason for that, although as already mentioned, home field advantage isn’t as big of a deal this year. Another reason is simply due to the fact that, well, Georgia is better than Alabama this year in terms of talent, and they particularly will be during the early part of the season.
Now, the Vols could be much more of a trap game for the Dawgs than they are for Alabama. After all, Georgia faces UT in between its matchups with the Auburn Tigers and Alabama, so they could definitely overlook Pruitt’s team.
On the other hand, UGA is much more of a trap game for UT than Alabama is given the fact that it’s right before the Kentucky Wildcats, and honestly, that’s a more important game for the Vols this year. Finally, Georgia is just built in the same way the Vols are built but, as of this moment, better and deeper when it comes to talent.
Pruitt and Tennessee football may have enough to give the Dawgs a fight for a half, but they won’t be able to hang with them for too long on the road. This is a measuring stick for them more than anything. It’s just a clear loss.
