Defeated Missouri Tigers 38-19

Nick Saban let a lot of people down who bet on the Alabama Crimson Tide to cover over the weekend. He also let people down who bet on the game to hit the under. Both things failed because of multiple late Missouri Tigers scores that, if Saban didn’t take his foot off the pedal, never would have happened down the stretch.

With Mac Jones, Najee Harris, Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith, the Tide poured it on Mizzou and jumped out to a 35-3 lead in the third quarter. At that point, they put in their backups and allowed the Tigers to score a field goal and two late touchdowns to make it look like a respectable 38-19 loss. However, when things mattered, everything showed Alabama was invincible.

As a result, we have the Tide high up in our SEC Power Rankings. You could make a case for depth being a concern, but that’s a thin one at best. Alabama looked as dominant as ever with Jones as the signal-caller, and they didn’t need Tua Tagovailoa, Henry Ruggs III or Jerry Jeudy to do it. Once again, Saban is just reloading his talent this year.

Of course, we’ll know if what Mizzou did at the end meant anything when they face Tennessee football this week. Bama, on the other hand, faces the Texas A&M Aggies before facing the Ole Miss Rebels, so there’s a chance they have an easy road early on before facing the Georgia Bulldogs. We just have to know how good A&M actually is first.
