Tennessee football vs. Missouri: Five Tigers to watch
6’0″ 196 pounds; Hometown: Jonesboro, La.
All of this comes down to whether or not Shawn Shamburger is good to go. Last week, Tennessee football allowed South Carolina Gamecocks slot receiver Shi Smith to go for over 100 yards and a touchdown with Doneiko Slaughter in place of Shamburger. We don’t know if Shamburger will be able to go or if he will be in prime condition when he does go on Saturday.

If either of those things is a problem, Jalen Knox could go off. Another slot receiver, Knox led the Missouri Tigers in receiving last week against the Alabama Crimson Tide with five receptions for 63 yards. Eliah Drinkwitz will likely rely more on him throughout the year in his creative offense, and this weekend could be another weekend in which he does that.
Knox had 419 and then 307 yards in 2018 and 2019 respectively, and he had three touchdowns and one touchdown respectively those years too. Despite his dip in production as a sophomore, he’s expected to build off his breakout freshman campaign this year, and that started last week when he had a solid performance against Nick Saban’s defense.
Although he didn’t play against UT in 2018, Knox had two receptions for 33 yards last year when the two schools faced off. Given what happened last week, Jeremy Pruitt and Derrick Ansley have to make sure they keep an eye on Knox throughout the day. He could torch them in numerous ways otherwise, and that would be a major problem.
