Defeated Auburn Tigers 27-6

There’s no doubt who belongs at the top of our SEC Power Rankings after this past week. The Georgia Bulldogs are sitting pretty right now and have a huge distance between them and Tennessee football, the lowest-ranked 2-0 team in the league at this point.

More from All for Tennessee

Georgia is the only team in the SEC that is 2-0 and has wins against two teams with a win. Both the Arkansas Razorbacks’ and the Auburn Tigers’ only losses are to Kirby Smart’s team, and that first half against Arkansas to open the season doesn’t look like anything concerning at this point given the way the Hogs just beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

It’s one thing for UGA to have beaten Auburn, but the Dawgs completely dominated them. The Tigers didn’t look like they belonged on the same field, and that level of ownership alone is enough for us to put them atop these rankings.

Smart’s team had every reason to look like the best team entering the nation at the beginning of the year. Remember, the greatest recruiting class in history back in 2018 are now all in their third year in the program, so raw talent and experience should make this team great. Is it enough for the program to finally get over the hump?

Well, we’ll know soon enough. Up next for the Bulldogs are two more 2-0 teams. They first face Tennessee football this Saturday, and then they face the Alabama Crimson Tide. If they win both, they won’t just be atop these rankings. They’ll be No. 1 in the nation.
