Tennessee football collapses in SEC Power Rankings after Week 7 of 2020
Defeated Mississippi State Bulldog 28-14
After coming under a ton of fire for once again losing a big game in the second week of the season and struggling with the Vanderbilt Commodores in the first week of the season, Jimbo Fisher has turned the Texas A&M Aggies around. Sure, these guys lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Georgia Bulldogs were just as embarrassed by them. Kellen Mond has turned into a superstar over the past two weeks, though. Beating the Florida Gators is still the main quality win, but don’t sleep on how these guys were able to beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Mike Leach’s teams usually lose from his quarterbacks throwing too many interception. However, they only had one in that game, and A&M still held them to 14 points and just 219 yards through the air. Fisher has this defense playing well now, and we can honestly say it looks like A&M has turned a corner. As a result, they are now among the top two teams in our SEC Power Rankings.
Will it last? Well, they have a bye week to get better, and then they host the Arkansas Razorbacks, visit the South Carolina Gamecocks and Tennessee football, and then host the Ole Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers before visiting the Auburn Tigers. A&M would be favored in every one of those games right now, so 9-1 is on the table for this team, which would be amazing.
