Tennessee football stock report after Week 7 of 2020
Stocks to buy
Kicking game
Paxton Brooks had a horrible game against the Kentucky Wildcats. He punted five times, and four of them failed to travel beyond 40 yards. Before you make the excuse of trying to pin the opponents deep with short punts, none of those punts pinned UK inside the 20-yard line, and three of them didn’t even go for touchbacks. So they were just failed punts.

However, Brooks was still solid on kickoffs. Ever since his misses in the first two games, Brent Cimaglia hasn’t had the chance to right the ship. As a result, we have every reason to believe that Tennessee football will get back on track with this unit eventually. We know what Cimaglia can do, and Brooks clearly has the leg. It just needs to come together.
Wide receivers
Saturday was the worst day for the Vols’ wide receivers and tight ends. They could not get separation, and Princeton Fant and Ramel Keyton each had personal foul penalties that ruined drives. Fant’s personal foul is what ended up resulting in J.T. Shrout throwing his interception. It was disastrous from the start, and at least from the wide receivers, that was somewhat shocking.
However, that has to be an anomaly with the wide receivers. The tight ends have consistently struggled, so we left them out. But Brandon Johnson had a key fourth down grab. He and Josh Palmer have still proven themselves to be elite in multiple ways throughout the year. One game tanked their stock, meaning this is a unit you should buy.
