2. Passing attack for Arkansas against Vols’ secondary

This one’s pretty simple. The Arkansas Razorbacks have relied pretty heavily on their passing attack to win games this year. Feleipe Franks to Treylon Burks has made for a reliable duo for Kendal Briles’ offense, and they showed a lot last week closing the gap in their loss to the Texas A&M Aggies. Behind defensive touchdowns, their passing is a big deal.

Meanwhile, that strength is once again a huge weakness for Tennessee football. The Vols’ secondary has not been what it was expected to be. They allowed the Kentucky Wildcats to complete over 80 percent of their passes on them, and they also allowed the Alabama Crimson Tide to complete their first 10 passes on them with Mac Jones.

The issue has been covering the slot, as Shi Smith of the South Carolina Gamecocks had 140 yards and a touchdown on them, and the Missouri Tigers did move the ball with Connor Bazelak at the helm. Add in what Stetson Bennett of the Georgia Bulldogs was able to do with guys like Kearis Jackson, and it’s clear that the Vols have some issues that plagued them all season.

Nigel Warrior’s departure was critical, but an injury to Bryce Thompson and Shawn Shamburger missing time early were both problematic early on. Jeremy Pruitt suggested they worked on these things during the bye, and Vol fans better hope he did. If he didn’t Briles will be able to torch this secondary, and the game could get ugly fast.
