By nature of playing quarterback, Feleipe Franks is going to be crucial for the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday. However, given his history against Tennessee football, he stands out more, and that’s why he tops the list.

More from All for Tennessee

Franks was quarterback for the Florida Gators in their 2017 and 2018 wins over the Vols. In 2017, he took advantage of the worst-coached game ever by Butch Jones and overcame horrible coaching by his own head coach, Jim McElwain, to complete 18 of 28 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns, including a 63-yard Hail Mary touchdown to win 26-20 as time expired.

The next year, while playing for Dan Mullen, Franks didn’t have to do much, as the Vols had six turnovers and gave up a safety. However, he still completed nine of 18 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns.

While those numbers aren’t great, that Hail Mary still haunts Rocky Top. This year, he has completed 66 percent of his passes on the year for 11 touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 156 yards. His emergence as a legitimate dual threat under Kendal Briles is a big deal, and this is why the Hogs can spread the wealth with all their new weapons.

Given how much Tennessee football’s secondary struggled through the first five games, containing Franks could be difficult. If they can’t, though, they’re in trouble. They have to pressure him as much as possible and frustrate the heck out of him.
