Defeated South Carolina Gamecocks 48-3

Is there any doubt about the Texas A&M Aggies now? Sure, the South Carolina Gamecocks are struggling, but blowing them out 48-3 like that proves that Jimbo Fisher’s team is becoming more complete by the day. Their one loss is to the top team in our SEC Power Rankings, and they beat the only other one-loss team in the league, who just beat the Georgia Bulldogs.

Simply put, these guys clearly belong at No. 2 in our power rankings. An SEC Championship is likely not on the table, as its loss probably cost it the West. However, these guys still could earn a spot in the College Football Playoff depending on how things shape out if they continue to play at the level they’re at, and they have clearly arrived under Fisher.

What really stands out for Texas A&M is that while the offense is still rolling with a balanced attack behind Kellen Mond, the defense is getting better as well. Depth is still an issue, which is why they let the Arkansas Razorbacks score on them late. However, they are getting more complete, and that’s a huge reason they could finish 9-1.

In fact, finishing 9-1 is now likely. Up next for these guys is a trip to a reeling Tennessee football team. Then they hose the Ole Miss Rebels and visit the LSU Tigers. Their only tough game left is a road trip to the Auburn Tigers at the end of the year, but they’re likely to be favored in that game.
