Did Not Play

This one was obvious. The Alabama Crimson Tide last took the field blowing out the Mississippi State Bulldogs and dominating Tennessee football before that. Nick Saban’s team looks as dominant as ever.

More from All for Tennessee

Going on a bye week wasn’t going to change the fact that the Tide look unbeatable and are atop these SEC Power Rankings. This could be Saban’s best offense, as Mac Jones looks like a Heisman candidate. Even with the loss of Jaylen Waddle, this team is loaded with weapons all over on offense, and Steve Sarkisian is doing a superb job of maximizing the talent his team has.

On defense, Saban may have been onto something when suggesting Lane Kiffin had access to his team’s signals when they faced the Ole Miss Rebels. No other team has really been that tough on them, so it’s not a concern.

In fact, this past weekend made Bama look better. Their blowout win over the Texas A&M Aggies continues to look more legitimate, as the Florida Gators’ win over the Georgia Bulldogs further legitimized A&M. These guys have played two of the top four teams in our power rankings, and they have blown out both of them. They’ll likely play the other in the SEC Championship.

Coming off the bye, the Tide now visit the LSU Tigers in what should be a win. They then host the Kentucky Wildcats and Auburn Tigers before visiting the Arkansas Razorbacks. Only Auburn should be tough. Arkansas’s win over Tennessee football doesn’t make them a threat, so Bama has already likely clinched the SEC West and belongs atop these rankings.
