2. Which Bo Nix shows up?

We know about how bad Tennessee football’s pass defense is. However, will it matter? It all depends on which Bo Nix shows up at quarterback, and with three weeks off, that’s definitely a huge question.

More from Vols Football

Nix looked great against the LSU Tigers, throwing for 300 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 81 yards. He also did his part against the Ole Miss Rebels, throwing for 238 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 52 yards and another touchdown. That suggests he is getting into a rhythm and thriving in Chad Morris’ offense.

However, he was the sole reason for this team’s loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks. The defense allowed fewer than 300 total yards, but Nix threw three interceptions. He also had a very forgettable performance against the Arkansas Razorbacks despite two touchdowns, as he only had 217 total yards, and he had that pick against the Georgia Bulldogs in a bad game.

Nix has a collection of elite receivers to throw to, but it doesn’t mean anything if he makes critical mistakes. That’s why all of this will come down to him, and if he can avoid making mistakes, he could torch the Vols.
