Here is our Tennessee football Volunteers at the Tigers preview and television information.

In the midst of a four-game losing streak and coming off a second bye in three weeks, Tennessee football heads to Alabama to take on the Auburn Tigers Saturday evening. At 2-4, Jeremy Pruitt’s team will play its first game since a 24-13 loss at the Arkansas Razorbacks two weeks ago.

Auburn comes into this game at 4-2 and on a two-game winning streak. However, the most recent outing for Gus Malzahn’s team was three weeks ago, when they dominated Ed Orgeron’s LSU Tigers 48-11. They are ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.

Both Tennessee football and Auburn had scheduled games last week postponed due to the pandemic. The Vols were set to play the Texas A&M Aggies, and Auburn was set to play the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Those games have been rescheduled for Dec. 12. Here is all the information you need for Saturday’s matchup.

More from Vols Football

This is the first meeting between the Vols and Tigers since 2018. Just like this game, that one was at Auburn, the Tigers were ranked in the top 25, and Rocky Top entered the game with a losing record and coming off a bye. The Vols pulled off a 30-24 upset that day. That was the first win for UT in this series since 1999. Auburn had won six straight from 2003 to 2013.

These two teams once played each other every year from 1956 to 1991. Two of the major catalysts in the rivalry, Johnny Majors and Pat Dye, led Tennessee football and Auburn through the 1980s and early 1990s. Both passed away this past summer.

UT and Auburn both have a tough schedule ahead after this game. The Vols will face the Vanderbilt Commodores on Nov. 28 but then have to face the Florida Gators on Dec. 5 before making up the Texas A&M game, and both are top 10 teams.

Auburn, meanwhile, has to face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 28 and that same Texas A&M team on Dec. 5. They have also already suffered one upset loss this year, falling to the South Carolina Gamecocks. As a result both Tennessee football and the Tigers will be desperate in this game.
