Did not play

For the second straight week, the Texas A&M Aggies didn’t play due to a COVID outbreak that occurred around their program. However, at the same time, nothing was done for us to drop them in our SEC Power Rankings, as this is a top five team nationally, and if not for a loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, it could be the No. 1 team in the nation.

Jimbo Fisher’s team still beat the Florida Gators, and their only loss is to the top team in these rankings. As a result, there’s no way we could drop this team despite not playing. The only way they could drop at this point is if they lose.

This team is likely out of contention for the SEC West unless the Auburn Tigers pull off a shocker Saturday, but they are still in contention for a College Football Playoff spot. After two weeks off, they have a chance to make a real statement on that front Saturday.

That matchup will be with an LSU Tigers team that hopes to have turned things around. After that, they visit Auburn, and that could be a tough game, and they close things out by visiting Tennessee football. Simply put, 9-1 is possible, and 8-2 should be the worst-case scenario.
