The Havana, Fla. end decommitted from the Tennessee football Volunteers.

It could not be more clear that the wheels are coming off Jeremy Pruitt’s program, on and off the field. For the third time in less than two weeks, Tennessee football has suffered a decommitment from its 2021 recruiting class.

Florida strongside defensive end Darrell Jackson, a three-star across the board, announced Monday morning that he has decommitted from Rocky Top. At 6’6″ 255 pounds, Jackson comes out of East Gadsden High School in Havana, Fla.

Jackson had been committed to Tennessee football since Feb. 1, well before the major recruiting haul Pruitt had racked up in the spring and the summer. He announced his decommitment from the program on Twitter.

More from Vols Football

Before Jackson’s decommitment, Terrence Lewis and Damarius McGhee also decommitted from the program over the past two weeks. All three of those prospects are defensive players who come from the state of Florida.

McGhee, a 2021 four-star cornerback out of Pensacola Catholic High School in Pensacola, Fla., was the first of these players to decommit. He had been committed since Aug. 1, but the 6’0″ 162-pound decommitted on Nov. 26, and the LSU Tigers are now the favorites to land him.

Lewis, a 2021 linebacker from Opa Locka, Fla. who attends Miami Central High School, is a five-star on 247Sports and ESPN and a four-star on Rivals. At 6’1″ 200 pounds, he had been committed to UT since April 30 but decommitted on Nov. 30. The Vols are still the favorite to land him on the Rivals Future Cast, but the Auburn Tigers are the favorite on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

There are now no favorites to land Jackson on the Rivals Future Cast or the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Even the Rivals Fan Future Cast has no favorites. As a result, Tennessee football could still be in play. Without Jackson, the Vols now only have 24 commitments in their 2021 recruiting class, and they are now outside of the top 10 in both the Rivals and 247Sports rankings.

Note: Three days later, Jackson committed to Mike Locksley and the Maryland Terrapins.
