Tennessee football still in bottom tier of Week 14 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated Auburn Tigers 31-20
In their final tough test of the year, the Texas A&M Aggies pulled away from the Auburn Tigers. As a result, they remain the No. 5 ranked team in the nation and are still in great shape to make the College Football Playoff.

Similar to all of the previous weeks, nothing has changed here. A&M has one loss, and that one loss is to the top team in our SEC Power Rankings. They are one of three teams with two losses or fewer, and they beat the other one-loss team. As result, there’s a clear-cut No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 in these rankings, and Jimbo Fisher’s team clearly belongs at No. 2.
The program has taken off under Fisher and is now the powerhouse it needs to be. It lost its chance at clinching the SEC West last Saturday, but there’s no shame in that given the fact that it was due to a loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. What’s unfortunate, though, is this team won’t be able to play all 10 games now.
Saturday’s matchup with the Ole Miss Rebels has now been postponed, and it’ll be hard to make that up. As a result, A&M’s final game will be against Tennessee football. That should be a win, though, and the playoff is still in play.
