Tennessee Lady Vols preview vs. Furman: Live stream, game time, TV and radio info
The Paladins visit the Tennessee Lady Vols. Here is our preview for the women’s basketball Volunteers.
Four days removed from their first loss of the season, on the road against the West Virginia Mountaineers in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge, the Tennessee Lady Vols are back home. They take the court to face a team that was just added to the schedule less than a week ago.
Kellie Harper’s team will play host to the Furman Paladins, who head to Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. coming off a 78-59 Sunday loss to the Georgia State Panthers. This is the third game for both teams.
Furman was added to the schedule last Friday, as both teams needed to add a game. UT had a week between two road Big 12 matchups, and Furman had a game this week with the Stetson Hatters canceled. Here is all the information you need for the Tennessee Lady Vols’ matchup.

On Sunday, UT lost to WVU in Morgantown, W. Va. 79-73 in overtime. They had a two-point lead late in the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold it and then failed on a final chance to win the game. Before that, they had beaten the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 87-47 in their opener and the ETSU Bucs 67-50.
Meanwhile, in addition to losing to Georgia State earlier this week, Furman lost its opener to the Clemson Tigers 83-43. In between those games, though, they did have a 73-58 win over the Georgia Southern Eagles.
Led by Jackie Carson, who is in her 11th year as head coach of the program, the Paladins have two starters back from a team that went 19-12 last year and 8-6 in the Southern Conference. Tierra Hodges, the one returner who averaged double figures last year, is now the team’s leading scorer and is averaging a double-double at 16 points and a remarkable 14.3 rebounds a game.
Obviously, a team that relies heavily on dominating the post with its length like the Tennessee Lady Vols will have to account for Hodges. Up next for UT after Furman will be a Sunday trip to the Texas Longhorns. The Paladins, meanwhile, are slated to visit the Elon Phoenix that same day.
