The Texas A&M Aggies got a major break with last week’s game against the Ole Miss Rebels and former Tennessee football head coach Lane Kiffin being canceled. That’s one more chance at an upset loss gone for Jimbo Fisher’s team.

Now, with Tennessee football the only team left on the schedule for them and the Florida Gators losing last week, A&M is the league’s best shot at two College Football Playoff teams. They can’t win the West, so their first order of business has to be making sure they win on Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn. at Neyland Stadium.
After that, the league has to hope the Alabama Crimson Tide beat Florida in the SEC title. Then, if the Notre Dame Fighting Irish can beat the Clemson Tigers again, or if the Ohio State Buckeyes can lose, they will be in the running. Until then, though, they clearly are the No. 2 team in our SEC Power Rankings, as their one loss is to the top team.
Fisher finally has the program where he wants it to be. This weekend, though, he will go up against one of his former proteges and a fellow former Nick Saban coordinator in Jeremy Pruitt. His team can’t take this game lightly.
