By far the most productive all-around player for the Texas A&M Aggies’ defense, Buddy Johnson is a threat, once again, due to his own merits. For the year, Johnson leads the team with 73 tackles, more than twice as many as fellow linebacker Aaron Hansford, who is second on the team. He also leads in solo tackles with 35.
Johnson is third on the team in tackles for a loss with five and fourth in sacks with two. He also has three pass deflections, an interception and two forced fumbles, making the team leader in turnovers caused on defense. Finally, he has a defensive touchdown. Simply put, he’s been all over the field for A&M and really made a name for himself.
Now, to be fair, Johnson’s production has dipped in recent games. He hasn’t had double-digit tackles since their Halloween showdown with the Arkansas Razorbacks, and he hit the double-digit mark in four of his first five games. Still, Tennessee football will have to account for him at all times, as he’s a major threat.
