Tennessee football: Top five Vols performers in 34-13 loss to Aggies
2 catches for 61 yards; 1 TD
Just as we did with Jacob Warren, sometimes we put players on here for the big plays they made. To be fair to Cedric Tillman, he was Tennessee football top producer offensively on the day, as his 61 receiving yards led all skill players in yards from scrimmage.

Only Josh Palmer, who had three catches for 55 yards, and Ty Chandler, who had seven carries for 31 yards and three catches for 15 yards, came close to Tillman’s production. That alone could put Tillman on this list. However, the play Tillman made is what truly put him on here.
Trailing 17-7, Jeremy Pruitt and Jim Chaney put in J.T. Shrout at quarterback. They decided to rely on Shrout’s big arm and had him air one out into the end zone over the middle. Tillman dove and caught the ball with his finger tips, landing for a a 46-yard touchdown reception to cut the lead to 17-13 in the second quarter. It was one of the best catches of the year.
Given the mistakes some of the other veteran skill players made, it now looks like Tillman may have been under-used this year. That was a great catch, and UT may have something in the future involving Shrout to Tillman. We’ll have to see.
