Possibility No. 2: The investigation has ended or is ending.

There’s a chance that the investigation is coming to an end and that Jeremy Pruitt wasn’t guilty of any wrongdoing. Although it technically could still be going on, the university may have enough to know that nothing will come of this.

That could potentially give Pruitt the freedom to still fill his staff vacancies and allow the university to extend the contracts of other coaches. Maybe the administration is altering its restrictions knowing what is about to come, and knowing that it’s not that serious, but it just doesn’t want to release that news to the public yet.

Honestly, given the way the 2020 season went, Tennessee football fans may shockingly be disappointed by that news. You know your program is in trouble when you’re hoping for a serious investigation to be able to move on from your head coach. That’s what happens after a disastrous 3-7 season under a third-year head coach.

Still, the stories that broke just dealt with an investigation. Although there were serious charges in there, that doesn’t mean any of it is true. It could just be a couple of minor secondary violations, and if that’s the case, this is all much ado about nothing.
