People have to stop dreaming. Hugh Freeze would wreck Tennessee football, regardless of how great an offensive mind and head coach he is. The guy’s baggage is off the charts, and it goes beyond just a personal moral failing.

More from All for Tennessee

Don’t forget that Freeze had numerous recruiting violations at Ole Miss that forced them to forfeit 27 wins during his time there. So when people say he went 39-25, he really went 12-25. Then the program got put on probation. Freeze and the school also tried to pin the violations on previous Rebels coach Houston Nutt, which got him in further trouble. You can read that here on Yahoo.

Simply put, Freeze is an awful hire in every way, and what he did with the Liberty Flames is irrelevant. How he got hired by Liberty, though is relevant. He was hired by Ian McCaw, who took the job after he left the Baylor Bears, along with president Kenneth Starr and football coach Art Briles, amidst the sexual assault scandal that wrecked the university in 2016.

So Freeze, who was fired amid serious recruiting violations and a prostitution scandal, was hired by an athletic director who resigned from a school that was in hot water over a sexual assault scandal. And they did this together at a new school that claims to be a beacon of religious morality and both came from other schools that claimed that (Freeze coached Briarcest High in Memphis).

Everything about Freeze would be an embarrassment. Tennessee football is staring down serious NCAA investigations, and the worst thing they could do in that moment is hire a guy who presided over serious NCAA violations and tried to frame somebody else for them. Freeze should not be touched by anybody in the SEC but especially the Vols.
