Tennessee football’s National Signing Day surprisingly encouraging: Five storylines
2. What happens with Dylan Brooks?
The same way we don’t know what’s happening with Auburn Tigers transfer defensive end Markaviest “Big Kat” Bryant given the fact that he committed to Tennessee football, didn’t sign and deleted his tweet announcing his commitment after Jeremy Pruitt’s firing, we don’t know what’s happening with Dylan Brooks. That story was more confusing on National Signing Day.

Brooks has reportedly been calling for himself to be “freed” on Twitter ever since Pruitt was fired. It makes sense. It was revealed on Dec. 31 that the four-star Alabama edge rusher, one of the earliest commitments to get the program on a roll back in the spring, had already signed with the program, at the time alleviating a big concern among fans.
However, the #FreeBrooks hashtag has been used by him a lot recently. It appears as if he wants out of his letter of intent given the coaching change. If we’re being fair, that’s not an unreasonable request. He thought he was committing to something completely different.
Either way, this is a bit of bad news surrounding the Vols’ recruiting class on National Signing Day. Josh Heupel would obviously love to keep Brooks, and him wanting out could be an issue related to the day down the road.
