Tennessee football: 10 must-have 2022 in-state football prospects
2. Jordan James – Running Back
Hometown: Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Oakland High School)
Yes, there’s another talented player out of Oakland High School in Murfreesboro. Jordan James joins Isaiah Horton as a guy who could provide a lot of help to the Vols early. He is also another talented in-state running back prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

James cut his list down to Tennessee football, the Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Georgia Bulldogs last fall. Currently, the Vols and Georgia Bulldogs are considered the leaders to land the 5’10” 205-pound running back.
UT being in play with those other schools show that location is clearly a huge selling point for James. He seems to want a reason to head to Rocky Top, and some early success by Heupel this year could solidify. Either way, he needs to dedicate himself to constantly recruiting James, as he would be a great addition to the program.
In 2020, James rushed for 1,752 yards on 182 carries and found the end zone 26 times. Offsetting the loss of Eric Gray, and even potentially class of 2021 signee Cody Brown, will be huge for Josh Heupel and the coaching staff. Adding a wanted running back like James to the mix wouldn’t hurt Rocky Top even in the slightest.
